Large skein of bleached thread for linen weaving circa mid 1800's. This is a creamy oatmeal color although it almost looks white in our pictures. This is a thick plait of twisted thread. Generally this type i=of thread was considerred a provincial supply used for peasant sheets, drapes, torchons and it is PERFECT to use for mending such items. We don't often see these so this was a nice find. This is dating from the 1800's and was stored for a very long time. However, it is is excellent condition with only minor marks and age spots here and there. SOld as found. I don't know how much is in this large bundle but clearly it is a lot.
