Superb Antique 1800's armorial intaglio seal. Beautifully crafted this seal features a carved agate stone in an white hue. This antique seal is a true gem for collectors. The seal features beautifully carved unique birds perched over a garden urn which is standing on grass.  This gold cased antique piece exudes a timeless elegance that is perfect for those who appreciate antique jewelry. It is approximately .55" x .70" in dimensions and stands about 1" tall. The matrix is in EXCELLENT condition and I can see absolutely no defects and it doesn't even need a good cleaning despite it's age of 175 plus years old. This is perfect to use as a seal and it can be made to wear as a piece of jewelry. Just a beautiful piece of history.

Gold-cased is another term for rolled gold, a long lasting form of plating. The process for rolled gold was invented in Birmingham in 1785 and was to be further developed in Birmingham over the next decades. It required a thick sheet of gold to be soldered to a thick sheet of brass.
