Beautiful Antique French sewing case that looks like a book. Fitted with original sewing tools circa the late 1800's. I love this sewing case and I have never seen one like this before. It has a brown leather exterior with what is supposed to look like gilt book pages. The interior is a green leather that opens up to a pale cream/pink silk flap on one side with five pockets. The center has a cream wool piece for needles. There are two worn spots on the wool. The other side opens up to three sewing tools two of which have mother-of-pearl handles. The center tool handle is missing. Beneath the tools is more cream/pink silk with more pouches for tucking your sewing goodies. The book box is in excellent condition. The book slides perfectly in and out of the framework. The sewing book/case measures 4.75" x 2.6" x .8". This is a darling original piece in fantastic condition. We purchased this case from a sewers private collection in Provence along with a large collection of threads, notions, and textiles.
