What a gorgeous antique 1800s French paint box. The box lifts open to reveal several compartments with art supplies. the bottom of the box has a hole for holding the kit like a palette and the top of the box has a slit on the side where a slide pops into place and holds it open and steady so you can use the lid for holding the work you are painting. There are paints, several metal accouterments, some coal sticks a paint brush, and a wooden piece that possibly slides into a hole to hold your artwork in place. The box itself is in SUPURB condition with all of its latches and hinges in place. I can see no issues with the box whatsoever. The paints are still squishy so I think they can be used although I didn't open them up and the charcoal sticks are fine. There is also a piece of 1800s artwork in the lid that came with the box.
This is a lovely decorative piece. in excellent condition. The contents are as pictured and this art set measures some watercolor bricks are more used than others but all the colors have paint so they can still be used. The porcelain pots are in fine condition and I can see no damage to any of them. The art set measures 9.5" x 5.25" x 2". I consider this a superb find.
