Lovely antique French porcelain bisque flowers. These came to me in a larger collection of decorative items and "craft" items including another box of velvet and cloth flowers. These probably date to the mid 1800's and were most likely used in a Napoleon III Bridal Globes. I myself have never had a completed bridal globe with all the trimmings but I do have all the pieces and parts to put them together. However, these are the first complete and large porcelain flowers I have had as they are hard to come by. The flowers will vary in size with the long wires on some and a few even have the original leaves still attached. It really is shocking how these have survived but based on the way they came to me I am going to assume that someone was the creator of bridal globes.
Measurements are approximate -
A - Set of 4 - 1.25" x .80"
B - Large rose with small rose wired together. No leaves. The large rose in 2.9" in diameter and almost 2" deep. It is a large flower. The smaller bud is similar to the pieces in A.
C - This is a long wired stem with 4 flowers and 3 leaves. The large floral is 2" in diameter and about 1.75" deep. The smaller florals are similar to A.
D - The same as C.
E - A large porcelain flower 2" in diameter and 1" deep. There is also a single flower bud similar to A. The stem is intact and there are green leaves attatched to the wire.
F - A single rose head about 2.8" in diameter and 1.5" deep. This rose looks similar to the rose in B but it is slightly smaller. There is a wire attached to this floral head but the stem portion is gone although it is possible to reattach a new wire to the old wire.
G - A large porcelain flower 2" in diameter and 1" deep. There is also a single flower bud similar to A. The stem is intact and there are green leaves attatched to the wire.
H - A HUGE porcelain rose 3" in diameter and 2" deep. There is also a single flower bud similar to A. The stem is intact and there are green leaves attatched to the wire.
