Beautiful handmade French thread frame. This frame is from the late 1800s and is an art form popular during the Victorian era. String was used to form frames to hold pictures. The frame is made from string wrapped around a cardboard pattern with pins securing it at the tips. This string frame is a rare piece with 9 frames that were sewn together to make one complete frame. One side has old photos in it and the other has chromos. It measures approximately 9.25" in diameter. Due to the age and nature of these frames, some areas have become threadbare and exposed. We recommend handling this antiquity gently and with extreme care when displaying in your home.
Please note: Antique and early vintage items have imperfections and wear throughout, as would be expected with their age and use. We provide, as accurately as possible, images that reflect the character of the piece. Actual color may vary from images.
