This is an 1800's relic of B. Josephi Calafantii. This relic measures 1.75" x 1.25" and is .20" deep. It is in FABULOUS condition and was made long ago with serious craftmanship. A piece of cloth lays in the center surrounded by a gold sunburst. Around the relic the are three rows of metalic twine. All in silver. The bottom is adorned with beautiful cutwork and scipt. Ex Subula which means "from the tunic". The name B. Josephi Calafantii. Under that is written Scholar. Piar. Fund. The back is sealed with a red cording and a red wax seal. Under the seal and the cord there is a purple colored paper that looks faded. We purchased this reliquary from an antique dealer in Italy and is but one piece of the collection we were able to purchase.
