A quite lovely and beautifully handcrafted unique beaded relic from the 1800's. This evocative piece of French religious history was made by someone with such care and attention to detail. This could have been a souvenir from a pilgrimage or a keepsake from a departed member of a family.
This piece is made with cream silk, beads and sequins. The Cream silk is in fantastic condition given it's age. For the most part the bead work looks good even though there are some beads and sequins missing. I thought about mending this piece with new OLD stock but decided to leave it as it is. The back has no rips or tears. No frays or worn spots. There appears to have been a paper on the back which is long gone. It probably clarified the origin of the piece. There is a cord hanger at the top and this piece would look wonderful hanging on a wall. The piece measures approximately 6" x 4.5" x .5".
