Unbelievable 1800's antique oval French relic. A lovely relic with "10" individual relics. This is a pretty piece for sure. This is a diorama icon relic with raised paper. Each individual Saint has their name on a beautiful raised piece of gilded paper with the actual relic beneath it. There is a decorative cut and layered cross in the center with a wreath and heart addorning it. All of these pieces were hand cut and meticulously layered. The inner oval is red paper and the outer oval is cream colored paper. There is an oval brass frame between the two layers for accent. The frame is wood and it has a crack on the top as well as two bends in the outer brass frame. The back is papered and raised almost 1.25" to form the diarama. The glass on the front is flat and has NO cracks or chips. This piece is in wonderful condition given its age of probably 200 years old. I can see no issues with the internal pieces and none have fallen away. It may have been dropped years ago causing the wood to break and the brass to bend but the internal pieces were well construcked. The entire piece measures 9.5" x 8.25 x 1.25". This piece is just a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and history.
