Beautiful antique relic I purchased in Italy circa early 1800's. Sadly I don't have any back story on this piece other than to say that it is a Holy Relic. It is a gorgeous piece made with linen over what appears to be a decoative fabric as some of the linen has worn away. There is hand stitching and a red heart on the front. I can't tell if the heart is hand stitched or another textile stitched on the top but either way it is intact and beautiful. Around the entire edge of this piece is zig zag stitching. There is a piece of glass which has some minusciue bubbles in it which gives its age away. Under the glass is a small patterned floral textile with a metal thread circle and a relic in the center. The back is red silk with a pattern stitched onto it and a red loop hanger that is also stitched in place. While I can't identify the piece and neither could the relic dealer I purchased it from it is a gorgeous specimen of early 1800's workmanship. This relic measures 4.25" x 3.5" and is .5" deep.
