A magnificent and RARE antique French flag holder dating to the late 1800's. This is the olderst one we have ever had. The large wooden wall hanging has been created in the form of a shield. The front has been hand-painted. The back side has openings to hold a total of 5 large flags and there is a metal hanger on the back. Originally, the flag holder would have decorated the entrance to a French town hall or government building.

Overall this piece is in wonderful condition given it's age and the fact that is was used outside in all kinds of weather. The wooden wall hanging shows signs of age and wear.
