Beautiful antique French early 1800's blue velvet bridal stand. A stand like this would be gifted to the new married couple by the bride's mother-in-law. It would rest under a large fragile glass dome that has long since disappeared and was displayed during their whole life in the couple's bedroom as souvenir of their marriage.
It is a rare and gorgeous confection made of 6 small mirrors and one large mirror in the center. Incredibly the gold gilt leaves and flowers as well as the dove are still intact. The dove stands for everlasting love. L'amour toujours l'amour !!!
The blue velvet cushion is quilted with tiny gilt daisies and is in lovely fluffy condition, with a very ornate brass band all around. The Gilt on the daisies do need to be cleaned. I removed only the dust. Blue velvet is one of the rarest colors to find in these pieces. They are usually made with red velvet.
Total measurements are 18"H x 12"W x 8". The blue velvet cushion is about 8"x 5". Keep in mind that the dimensions may vary since the flowers and leaves have extendable stems and the feet can be displayed as you like.
